What Happened.

There have been so many people out there lifting prayer for our baby boy without many details of what actually happened.  We are so grateful for each and every prayer and blessed beyond measure that God answered those prayers!!

The last few days have been a whirl wind.  We are physically & emotional drained, but I wanted to get out the basics of what happened.  I have lots on my heart to share about the events surrounding the accident, but will stick now with the events…

We were in my small home town of Melvern for their annual fair days. Saturday evening was the parade & we took our usual position midway on the parade route in my grandparents old yard. When we arrived the parade was already lined up at the starting point as we could see the American Legion my dad & uncle marches with in formation. My 22 yr old twin cousins, Aunt & niece & nephew were positioned on a blanket with the kids and I was behind them with my mom & a friend in lawn chairs. Surrounded by extended family & friends on all sides.

We were there maybe 10 min before I turned to see Isaac run into the street and in a matter of seconds a car driven by an elderly woman whom had somehow found herself onto the parade route struck Isaac driving 15-20 mph throwing him approx 15 ft. The impact was heard by people as far as a block & a 1/2 away. He was struck on his left side, spun & landed on his left side. (We believe…as we find more bruises today on his pelvic region I am now thinking all injuries on his left side are from the impact & bruise on right pelvic bone & road rash on right arm is from him landing.)

Praise God Isaac was not even 2 steps further into the road or he would have likely been knocked down and ran over.

Head & neck CT scans came back clear, as did all X-rays of his chest & pelvis.  His tummy felt great & indicated no internal bleeding and urine tested clear of blood.  After several hours in the ER we were sent home with our healthy, although rouged up lil boy.  Simply amazing.

Please continue to pray for those that witnessed the accident.  Many are struggling with the haunting images & sound of the accident.  May we all be freed from our feelings of guilt, what-ifs & find peace.  Please also pray for the driver of the car.  She must be facing her own struggles & it had to be difficult to be involved in such an accident in front of so many.

We are so grateful for all the emergency care workers, family support, people from the crowd that sprung into action & prayers from so many on FB & in many churches.

More to share later….

Week Review of Summer Fun Checklist

We were able to check off a few more things on our summer fun list the first week or so in June.

Summer Checklist pre trip

Smores as mentioned here.

We met my friend & hair stylist at the splash pad park with her 3 kiddos.  Aidan & her son Brenden…well that’s not really his name…but Aidan insists on pronouncing his name that way…go to story time together at the library. Her youngest “C” is just about the same age as Aidan.  Emma met her oldest “J” & they really hit it off.  “J” is getting ready to go into 4th grade.

They recently started going to our church so it has given the kids even more opportunities to get to know one another.

Their mama I met when I gave her a try doing my hair.  There was a salon in Goodyear near the hotel we stayed in when we moved.  It caught my eye & then I found some of their advertisements which listed a bible verse on the bottom so I thought I’d give it a shot.  Like the atmosphere of the salon & she does a great job on my hair too.  The salon set up & look is VERY similar to my friend Bethany’s salon I went to in Derby. It was after my first hair cut that we bumped into each other at story time in town.  Ever since we have hung out after story time for the kids to play.  Ironically they live with in 5 minutes of us!

We have had both our smores buddies & splash pad buddies over for Pool Parties at our house.  Emma invited a classmate & girl who lives at the end of our street to swim that day. She LOVES having friends over.

Bubble snakes. I had seen the idea in Family Fun.  You take an empty water bottle w/out lid, cut the bottom of the bottle off (I used a serrated knife), slip a sock over the bottom/now opened end.  Dip in bubble solution & blow into the spout of the water bottle.  It makes fun foamy bubble snakes!!! (Disclaimer- I used fabric squares held on with rubber bands…did not work so well as they kept falling off.  A sock would work better b/c you could pull it up all the way to the “blow hole”)

Go To A Movie was checked off when Emma, neighbor Megan & myself took Emma to see Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.  It was a cute movie & I learned how much Emma is like Judy Moody!! She is super creative, loves to craft, design & plan things with her friends.  However, they are NOT alike in the area of cleanliness.  Emma hates to be dirty, sticky, mismatched or un-kept. :)  Aidan & Isaac got their movie while in KS. I took them to see Rio. :)

Craftiness Craze!!

I’ve been up to my eyeballs in modge podge, fabric, gorilla glue & paper here lately working on craft/scrappy/decor/sewing projects.  I’m on the mad dash to get most of them done before leaving for KS in 2 weeks.

Here’s a before pic of one project…it’s a drawer utensil divider thingy.  Mine will not be used in a drawer & is NOT this color anymore…

After pic to come soon.  VERY soon!! Like tomorrow night if all goes well! :)

Prayers from a 4 Yr old…

We were getting a late start this AM.  Leaving the house to run errands & get groceries at 11:30 am was not my plan.  They were hungry & it was actually Isaac’s nap time. Which really has nothing to do with this post except to display my poor planning…I guess. :)

As we pulled out of our section of the neighborhood Aidan announces he needed to pray to God. He was “reading” an Oriental Trading magazine…which makes me wonder what in.the.world. what sparked the need to pray?!?

I told him “honey we can pray to God anytime about anything.  He likes it when we talk to Him.” I was instructed to cover my ears & did so as best I could while driving!! When he was done he said “i prayed for God to help me poop & help me learn”. I think it went something like “our father who fart in heaven”…or maybe not…my ears were covered after all. I then prayed up a quick shout out that God would wait to answer Aidan’s prayer until we were home!!

The day of shopping lead us to each & every bathroom of Sears, Panda Express, JoAnn Fabrics (x2), Bashas & Walmart.  Bathroom trips alone added what seemed like hours to our day. Emma voted Bashas to be the “stinkiest”. FYI.

Luckily God listened to mommy & finally answered with what is the agonizing 15 min. of begging him to “shoot it out”- the moment we got home.  I wonder at what point he will learn that holding it makes it worse.  Poor lil guy!

Fast forward 3 hours through playing, swimming & dinner to about 8 pm.  Isaac went pee-pee on the potty chair.   I resumed cleaning up dinner to have him come in saying “oooh poo, *pointing toward dining room* “ooooOOOH pooooo”.  I  go in and find he had taken the potty down (from where Matt had cleaned it) pooped in it & then came and told me.

While we were cheering for him (& getting his spree cause we’re all about bribery) he handed me my camera…so what’s a mama to do, but snap…

All this to say…I have to spend the day begging my 4 year old to go.  My not yet 2 year old goes on his own and comes to tell me. Craziness I tell ya!?!?!?!

Yet this mama is SUPER excited that we could be looking at our last…say…6 months of diapers!!! Yee haw!!!  What could I ever do with that extra $50?? :)

My nasty AZ ,dried up, flip flop wearing, feet have an idea…
